"I'll Take the Blame"

Myron was beginning to "feel his oats." He was growing taller. His muscles were beginning to bulge. He was developing skills in sports and he was becoming very popular. But in one part of his life he was not developing at all. That was in relation to his family and especially to his little sister. He was constantly picking on her, making her cry, and getting her into trouble. He said it was fun.

The boy's parents tried many ways to break him of teasing his little sister. Comparing their sizes did no good at all. In the evenings they would make him stay in, forbid him to go swimming, deprive him of watching his favorite TV programs. But as soon as he "did his time" he was right back at her again.

One day while he was teasing her she broke away and fell against a lamp and knocked it over, breaking it to pieces. Their mother knew who was to blame but instead of punishing Myron she gave his sister a spanking, and sent her to bed without any supper.

But all during the meal Myron stared at the empty chair and thought of his little sister upstairs taking the blame for something that he had made her do. The big appetite was suddenly gone. He shoved his chair back and cried, "It was my fault. I broke the lamp!" And he ran upstairs to his sobbing sister. From that time on he took a different look at his own behavior.

That is the way Paul explained Jesus' death on the cross. God made Jesus to be sin for them so that they might become righteous. Christ took the punishment for our deeds. Ask yourself if you are worth all Christ suffered for you.
