It Takes All Kinds
Read Romans 1 2: 3-8
Jean had big ideas for her class when they elected her president. At her first meeting she announced an activity for every month of the school year. She had everything all planned out. She told her classmates just what kind of parties they would have, the dates of the activities, and how they were to dress for each one.
Committees? Oh yes, there were committees, of course; but Jean was going to keep a close watch on all of them so that they wouldn't wander out of line too far. But about October her big plans began to bog down. She wasn't quite so great a leader as she thought she was.
Paul, many years ago, warned the Christians at Rome that it was not good for anyone to think more highly of himself than he ought to think. No one was to be the whole show, so to speak. The wise apostle advised the church to recognize everyone's talents and to use them. Everyone can do something and he should do it.
It takes all kinds of people to make up this world. And the time has come when we must realize that this, above all times, is a time when people the world over should learn to respect one another. No one person has all the answers. And the wise leader is the one who listens closely to all advice and uses what he can.
There are no "big shots" in God's eyes. He loves all people equally. He has given each one of us some talent, skill, or ability. We are to use these gifts for the good of the world, and no one is to think his contribution is more important than another's.
Ask God to give you humility. Ask him to show you how to work with others.
